About
I am a Licensed Social Worker who earned my Bachelor’s degree in Child Advocacy and Policy from Montclair State University, followed by my Master’s degree in Social Work from Rutgers University.
I have experience working with children both individually and in group settings. Additionally, I have worked with first responders who volunteered to assist during the rescue and recovery efforts following the attacks of 9/11. As a result, I have worked with clients of various ages, backgrounds, and experiences.
Additionally, I have experience working with a very wide range of mental health concerns, including but not limited to emotional regulation, ADHD/ADD, anxiety disorders, depression, PTSD, etc.
I value a collaborative process when working with clients. I use approaches such as strengths-based, solution focused, and cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT). I am committed to creating a safe space for clients in which they feel empowered, supported, and accepted.
Ideal Client
The ideal client is one who wants to see a change in their life. It is impossible to feel motivated 100% of the time, but the ideal client would remain consistent in their efforts to see change nonetheless. The ideal client would be open and willing to learn how to focus on and utilize their strengths, develop coping skills, and work collaboratively towards their desired outcomes
More about Shelby Amanda DUTKIEWICZ
My ultimate goal is to create a space for the client in which they feel safe, supported, and accepted.
My experience of working with clients of various ages, backgrounds, and diagnoses has allowed me to recognize the importance of meeting the client where they’re at, and identifying the specific goals they are hoping to achieve.
As a therapist I believe it is my responsibility to work collaboratively with you to discuss what you hope to get out of therapy and find a way to help you do just that.
For some, opening up about their feelings and experiences comes naturally. For others, opening up about their feelings and past experiences can feel intimidating and overwhelming, and it’s likely you’ve never been able to do so.
Regardless of which category you fall into, I am here as a therapist to assist you through your journey.
